Why Do I Speak of Bones?

He said to me, "Mortal, can these bones live?" I answered, "O Lord God, you know."
-Ezekiel 37:3 (NRSV)

The story of the Valley of Dry Bones has been one of my favorite since I can remember (my next favorite is the one of Elijah hearing the still, small voice of God in 1 Kings). I understand Ezekiel's vision to be one demonstrating how God will always bring the beloved back from oblivion. Even if the beloved is the one who sent themselves running headlong into oblivion.

I am not contending that my writing is a mouthpiece for the Almighty. All I am trying to do is write down the ways I've seen God moving and acting. I want to encourage others to recognize God's movement and respond to it, too.

I'd love to know whether anyone else makes associations like this...
